Surprised again; shocked even!

My wonderful children (yes they are) continue to surprise me.

Some while back Wills (above) surprised me by speaking fluent, and what sounded like, near perfect German whilst booking an hotel room in Frankfurt. I had no idea that he could speak anything other than just English and French.

Now he has surprised me again by showing a sudden interest in Sailing. Not only is he learning all about how to make boats do what you want them to do, and go where you want them to go, he is also planning world trips in a two masted ketch; which he has yet to buy.

I must say; I thoroughly approve of this new hobby, I just hope he invites me along as crew. Me and Boo Boo could catch and cook the fish.

I also hope he buys himself a yacht with no holes in the hull (seriously!).

  2. He seems to be living his life to the full and seizing every opportunity. Exactly what you should do when you are young.

  6. You brought him up well! By the sounds of it your child rearing was 'do as I do' not just 'do as I say'.

    1. He's the adventurous type; I'm more of a hermit.

  7. You seem to speak German yourself, as you say your son speaks it nearly perfect.
Sailing is something wonderful. Water, sky and infinity.

    1. I speak no German whatsoever. He stays in Berlin occasionally and must have picked it up there.

  8. If he asked, would you really go. What an adventure that would be!

    1. Probably not, but I doubt if he would be that foolish to ask me!

  9. I think Bok would want to be part of this adventure too.

    1. He surely would. I can just imagine him on the prow, with his nose twitching.

  10. A delightfully proud-parent post. It makes me feel truly happy on something of a dour day. (And I generally come here wondering if you will be grousing about something! Hurray!)

    1. I'm very proud of all three of my children. Yes, I do grouch a bit, but only when it's warranted.

  12. The sea and I have no affinity with one another. I have only to see a gentle wavelet on the shore to begin to feel sick. A friend is off across the Pentland Firth to Shetland (14 hour trip) next Tuesday - gales are forecast.

    1. I rather like the sea, but I do admit to having been sea-sick in very heavy weather. I've never learnt to sail, other than in tiny Hobie-Cats on holiday.

  13. He sounds like a daring person! Would that I had such a 'let's do it!' nature. (I do speak German, though, so that's something, I guess.)

    1. Wonderful to speak other languages. I did once try to learn Italian, but nothing would 'stick'.
