This is the guest bedroom, where more 'bumps/lumps' on the head are made than in any Tom and Jerry cartoon. The cross beam is about 1m 65 cms from floor level; perfect for that delightful smack on the forehead just before breakfast.
Every guest gets a very poignant warning; and everyone ignores it. I should add that this room was never intended to be a bedroom; it was simply a loft. Maybe we're being punished.

ReplyDeleteThat's not very high is it. I just did a conversion as, although we are in metric over here, I still think of height in feet and inches.
ReplyDeleteIt sure LOOKS like a picture of Mr. Dick Head! That sleeping loft sounds like a dangerous place--perhaps you need to provide helmets for your overnight guests.
ReplyDeleteI think I should have reworked my drawing; it really is rather odd!
DeleteI should imagine it's a very romantic place to sleep, as long as you stay lying down!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Taradharma (Harmachameleon)! I now have a vision of guests being issued with striped pyjamas, plastic helmets, elbow pads, knee pads and gloves - and no further explanation as to their intended purpose. Must make for a few raised eyebrows.
ReplyDeletewe have a sloping roof in the cottage bedroom... there is something rather relaxing about feeling enclosed I always think....
ReplyDeletelovely beams !
Great beams - the wood is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI can see where sleeping in that room could cause problems for those who need to make some trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteI lived in a basement apartment where all my friends took a good beating where the ceiling came down. I was short so I fit under it. An attic with beams would be worth the bumps!
ReplyDeleteHang something from it (no, not a noose) that will catch the eye and cause the tenant of the room to duck. quack.
ReplyDeleteHimself and i have gone sailing on the same schooner any number of times where the beds or bunks have low clearance. As many times as we've been, we still have to bump our heads at least once.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they're lucky head-hitting beams, like kissing the Blarney Stone.
