Dog Run.

So, what have I been doing on this 'phew-wot-a-scorcher', 28 degrees C, Spring day? Well I've being building a secure run for the dogs, complete with a Caribbean style kennel for 2.

They seem quite happy with it, and as yet no eascape committee has been formed.

It will make my life just a little easier knowing they are safe outside, whilst I potter about elsewhere. I've never liked chaining them up, and this is a good alternative. When the big Aspen (off to the left) is in full leaf, it should offer additional shade.

    1. It's probably the 2000 Volts that dissuades them. So far, no attempt.

  2. What a great idea...I think that is very kind to do that many just think chaining the dogs up will do,looks like a little holiday camp.

  4. I agree with Kath. Needs a swing and a roundabout.

  8. It's very nice; you did a good job with it. God help any squirrel that jumps in there.

  10. Yes, it is always good to have a safe place for the dogs. We built one a couple years ago. I'm a bit behind since I am up north visiting with the Grands! As you know they take up a lot of our time.

  11. Looks wonderful, Cro! The previous owners to our place had two labs, and they (the humans, that is ;-) put up a post and beam fence in the back yard, effectively separating nearly a third of it for a dog run. They used the same green wire stuff you used, and the dogs were quite happy to go in and out at will.

We keep one of the gate doors open just enough for cats to go in and out at will. When a friend visited with his dog Toby, who loves the cats he lives with but apparently thinks any others are fair game to chase, I was glad for that narrow escape hatch. I daresay Grace was more glad, as she ran out into the back yard proper. Toby stopped short, not realising he could jump the fence. We thought it best not to tell him.

Monty and Bok look very happy with your efforts.

  12. Impressive work. But if they really, really want to get out...

  13. Looks grand! A great way to keep the pups safe -- chaining up is not good, nor is allowing them to roam free. This looks secure, and is visually pleasing as well. Nicely done, Cro.

  14. I would like to make a reservation for 2 please. But I'll need a ladder to get into the penthouse.

PS. A lovely book arrived in the mail today. Of course I'll be going back to French class so I can read it but for now the pictures are quite satisfying. YOU Sir...are too kind.

  15. I was immediately wondering, too, if the didn't jump over the fence sooner or later, too. Just to check what you are doing :-) Love the little house!
