It's been very hot, sunny, and extremely bright.
My old shades had become a bit cloudy, and had seen better days. I needed new ones.
I had a bit of a look around certain shops likely to sell such things, and couldn't find what I wanted. Some came close but were expensive.
So, what does a chap do when he's at a loss? He goes to Amazon (of course).
The choice was extensive (as you can imagine) and I trolled through page upon page of over-fancy and over-priced glasses until I came across what I wanted. Some simple, polarized, affordable shades, that just look as 'ordinary' as possible.
I ordered them at about 5.30 pm on the 24th, and they dropped through my letter box at 12 noon on the 25th. Hand delivered, nicely packed, no fuss.
And at about £18 for two pairs (inc Post), I shan't panic if (at some time in the future) I lose a pair, or they break.
Thank you Amazon. You're a good'un.

Good sun glasses are expensive. Two for £18 ??
Yes, and they seem like good ones too. I never spend too much on sunglasses as I tend to lose them. However I did once have a pair of Ray Bans that cost about £100.
I don't see the point of buying in local shops any more, just too expensive and 'trendy'.Ebay is really good too, might take a bit longer than Amazon but they're just as good. Always have polarised ones, if you are wanting them checked out properly you can always take them into an optician, they will put them into their 'machine' and check that they are in fact polarised and UV protected and all that.
I buy mine from the local pharmacy. They are only £7 and are just right for me.
I had no idea one could have one's shades 'checked' like that. I think I'd rather not know, and simply trust the seller!
My previous ones came from Primark, and cost £3. But they were cheap rubbish. They have become cloudy.
Your poor eyes !
I agree that ordinary fellows require ordinary sunglasses. That is why I ordered myself some Ray-Ban Meta shades. Only £330.
My local Optometrist provided “free” prescription sunglasses with my last varifocals.
My poor wallet too. I don't usually splash-out so much.
My old Ray Bans lasted for about 10 years; eventually they snapped!
I don't have prescription glasses; just some 'off the shelf' +3 reading glasses.
That sounds like a bargain Cro. My current pair cost about 5 euros from Aldi and are mainly worn when I drive.
Coppa's Girl
What a coincidence I bought three pairs of readers from this co last week. Same think ordered on Amazon and they came the next day
Mine are Serengeti and are from Costco. Cost me $100 but I have macular degeneration and want to protect my eyes so I can keep driving. I would never buy cheap sunglasses. Gigi
Your eyes should be the most important.
Why didn't you tell me that before!
It's amazing. The Post Office can't do it, but Amazon can!
These one's don't feel like cheap glasses, but my last one's DID!
I love Amazon. It feels like Christmas gifts delivered right to my door. I avoid paying extra for labels. Who wants to be an advertising billboard for corporations that use third world slave labor?
I'm always amazed at the speed of Amazon. We don't have Amazon in Greece, as far as I know. That's probably a good thing. Anything we need is on a list for a city visit. By the time we actually have an outing we've discovered we don't need the stuff on the list after all
Sunglasses are an essential though.
