4 Bottles of 'extremely quaffable' South Australian Shiraz wine (not for me, sadly).
Bananas. Oranges.
Aubergine. Mushrooms. Cavolo Nero. Red Onions.
Tomato Puree.
Sushi.
Total cost: £28.44
I call that an absolute BARGAIN. I shall go again.
p.s. There were lots of very flash cars in the Car Park; including a Bentley Continental. Aldi is becoming trendy!

A very good haul, especially with all those bottles of wine. The Australian shiraz I've tried has been very good. A pity you have to avoid it.
Others will enjoy it; it's very good.
Our local Lidl's carpark is always full.
I went quite early, so there weren't many cars there, but I did notice a few very fancy ones (not mine).
I never see them at Sainsbury's.
Aha, your eyes have been opened to the treasures in a cut price supermarket. I was sceptical at first, thinking the poor quality was a compromise for cheap prices. Not so. A few visits later, and a trial and error testing of new found goodies, I now spend £60 - £70 every two weeks. Search and you will find. Happy foraging.
This morning I did some shopping here at the little local supermarket that has everything, everything is so expensive here, I left with a shopping cart of 100 pounds. (In our money of course). Including dry and wet cat food.
veg is 2nd class compared to Sainsbury's. ok if you want to eat it the same day.
A lot of exceptional human beings shop at Aldi. For example, I have just switched to Aldi from Lidl over displeasure about the discriminatory Lidl Plus loyalty scheme which excludes those of us who do not own smartphones.
Aldi has been trendy for quite a while. That was a good amount of items for a very reasonable price. Regards Sue H
I think most of the snobbery associated with Aldi and Lidl has gone.
A programme on TV last night had people blind taste testing various products. If I recall Aldi and Lidl macarons beat Ladurèe.
One thing I do not like from either A or L is their sushi.
Aldi has a lot of really good products , the vegs and fruits are always very fresh, but a no for the sushis , a complete industrial product , a minimum of fish , a maximum of not tasty rice .it's really easy to make your own sushis .

When I was there yesterday, there was a man in front of me at the check-out who I later saw in Sainsbury's. We had a fun conversation about what to buy and what not to buy at Aldi. It looks as if I'll be making a 'two-stop-shop' in future.
My £28 bill at Aldi came as a shock. I was expecting to pay far more!
All the vegs I bought yesterday were no different to Sainsbury's. All fresh and good quality.
I never liked Lidl. We have one in France; I only ever went ONCE!
Yes, I think I'm allowed to be seen there now. No more dark glasses and collar up.
I bought the 'fish' sushi and it was very good; no different in quality from M & S, but cheaper.
I quite liked it, but it's not something I would buy too often. Great for office workers; a decent meal for £4.
In the UK, Lidl and Aldi are very similar.
Haven’t tried M&S but have tried Waitrose sushi. In my opinion it is expensive and not good.
That looks like a really good haul Cro!
This morning I popped into Lidl, which I passed on my way home, after taking the dog to the vet. It's not a store I use regularly but I do like their XL packs of natural nuts. Somehow I managed to spend over 50€, which included buying a cordless screwdriver! I also used their self-checkout - not something we see here as a general rule, but it speeded things up. Aldi is further along the same dual carriageway so I planned to pop in there too, but the car park was full. Probably due to the three construction sites on the land opposite - the workmen must have somewhere to park their cars!
I don't know if ALL Aldi's are the same everywhere, but this new one in Brighton is very good for many things. I will still shop at Sainsbury's for products that I am more particular about, but it's good to have a second string in my bow.
I shop at Aldi every couple of weeks, there are some items that they are the best value and quality in my area.
Like with all supermarkets, one needs to be selective.
A great price - I shop there regularly - At the moment lots of sweet potatoes and squash for my dog - flis x
I shop Trader Joe's in the US. (That's what Aldi is called in the US.) The only thing I do not like at TJ's are packaged cod and salmon and most meats. Everything else is fine and as you say, the price is right.
I'll buy a Squash the next time I go. I forget to buy them. I used to grow loads. I love them.
I don't know why, but I wouldn't buy meat or fish at Aldi. Vegs and wine are all good, and I did buy some very nice blue cheese there.
I think they all stock similar products, Cro. What I like is that all the store layouts are the same. We have three Aldi's within a few miles of each other. I can go in any of them and find exactly what I need.
I'm still not used to the layout; it'll take time.
