Looking out through the sitting room door, it is hot, dry, and airless. The grass is drying, and there is that unmistakable warm scent of Summer in the air.
Indoors it is cool, dark, and comfortable. The thick stone walls and quarry tiled floors give us some respite from the relentless heat of mid-July.
The pool is hardly ever without someone splashing about, Billy sleeps on the ancient cooling flagstones in front of the big fireplace, where no doubt generations of dogs before him have found relief, and after all our tasks are finished, we sit reading books until it's time for an aperitif at about 5.30 pm.
We feel guilty of our laziness, even though I mowed most of the grass earlier in the day.
It's only 30 C in the shade, but it feels like much more. I have a feeling that Billy really doesn't like the heat of Summer.

It's just starting to turn beige; I see we might have some rain over the next few days, but I doubt if it'll do much good.
After three hot days and a thunderstorm a few weeks ago we haven't had a summer's day and there is a strong wind blowing again this morning. Send some of the heat over here please.
Buy some clippers and thin Billy's coat out. He'll thank you for it and it'll grow back by autumn. Do it every year to our border collies.
Well howdy Mr Cro, that place of yours sure looks swell. Here in Paduca it's hotter than a goat's butt in a pepper patch at the moment (as we say over here). It was 30c at 2am this morning and it'll be 40c before I've cooked up a skillet of grits. Now that's darn hot!
We are up in the Highlands and have been having some very pleasant warm days..of course now that the tourists can invade us it looks like it is beginning to turn colder and cloudy again! 4am to 6am was beautiful and sunny!
I'll exchange some of our heat for some rain, if you can organise it!

Well, our temperature is forecast to soar to 17C later but the rain should help to cool things down. Ah, just love these summer days!
Having a pool to splash about and cool off in must be nice.
It’s been really nice here and will get warmer this week. Lawn is still lush but we do help it along with the sprinkler !!! I shall be putting bark at the back of the flower beds today to try and keep the weeds at bay. Keep cool Cro. XXXX

I need over-night rain; a good downpour would be very welcome.
We used to drive about 3 miles to a nearby lake to swim, but having the pool just outside is far better (and cleaner).
I think I shall have to install my sprinkler quite soon. Everything is very dry.

The meltemi winds have started early this season and we are cooled by this north wind, most days.
I water every morning and even the mint is still thriving. But not so much the pumpkins. I think they prefer a heatwave

After June weather in April and July weather in May, June itself was iffy and since then it's been back to March weather in the UK. Rather too English for my liking and I can't wait to get back to France now.

25 C is my favourite temperature. It's not debilitating, and nothing is interrupted.
July and August in France are always glorious. A balmy 21 C in Lincs.
Summer gets hotter and hotter every year. We are getting a few days of less heat and humidity and I will take advantage of that.
I won't complain, even if it gets too hot (which it isn't at the moment).
I once went to Greece where the temperature had been 50 C the day before we arrived. People died, and all of Greece stayed indoors. Luckily on the day we landed it was only 48 C. I don't know how they can stand it.
Back from NZ mid February and wishing they had locked down sooner..they nearly did. Midgies and mozzys here....sandflies and mozzys there!!
I don't know when we will be able to afford another trip, so we are in Scotland for now.

It's terribly hot here, and the humidity is awful! Even at night there's very little relief.
And that was before the days of air-conditioning. I was young back then. It didn't really worry me.

I was a potter but not a studio potter. When I lived in New Zealand I was often asked why I didn't live there full time (instead of 6 months of the year) and I always said that I couldn't for various reasons but if anyone pulled up the metaphorical drawbridge (and lockdown could have been that drawerbridge) I would not have been upset.

Luckily it's a very dry heat here. When I was in the Cayman Islands, the humidity was terrible. No-one slept well.
