Ivor The Terrible 1923-2006.
If you've not heard of Ivor Cutler; shame on you!
I only possess one of his albums; 'Dandruff'. I should (of course) have more.
There are always people around who are 'one of a kind'; Ivor Cutler comes under this category.
Half singer, half poet; Ivor's work is unique. I'm not saying that you will like it; but at least have a listen. I must add that he used to be a hot favourite on the UK university circuit. Students eh!
Never met Ivor until now ... thanks Cro ... the man's a delight. Not knowing him very well I somehow think that he just might have liked the fact we've just been introduced 5 years after his death ... the dance lives on!

the lovely things about where our house is, is that it's a stones throw

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!

ReplyDeleteHe used to teach at Summerhill.... it explains a lot!
ReplyDeleteI listened to this plus a few more of his videos on You Tube. Not sure how I feel about it, but it was interesting.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the introduction. I loved the video so much I had to add it to my blog. I am no longer ashamed.
