Space Junk.

The recent lump of space trash re-entering our atmosphere, has reminded us all of how much rubbish there is up in the skies.

This extraordinary NASA picture shows the (aprox) 370,000 pieces of junk that permanently wizz around our planet, at speeds of about 22,000 mph.

Whose permission does one have to gain, in order to clutter up space with all this stuff? Shouldn't they be made to tidy it all up..... and can they guarantee that it does no-one any harm?

Seems to me a bit like dumping stuff at sea.... out of sight, out of mind; until you see a picture like the above, or hear of a bus-sized lump of it crashing to earth.

And don't forget; there's another MUCH BIGGER lump on its way..... keep your heads down!

Quite!

Every now and then, two bits collide at 22,000 mph each - that makes the clean-up task a bit more difficult, I bet.

Statistics are usually misleading. I heard one commentator this morning talk of 'flakes of paint' as being amongst the 370,000 bits of rubbish. So yes, anything bumping into something else would no doubt make matters worse.

Frightening. It's scary enough round here just walking through the woods and trying to avoid falling chestnuts.

Yeah, that's gotta look good to intelligent life forms. We're probably known in space as that "junk planet."

Our fellow earth beings having fouled this planet with their waste and having learn't nothing; Are now dead set on screwing up outer space with even more rubbish!

When will they ever learn ?

It is very disappointing to me that we are slowly (sometimes not slowly) destroying our own home. I know Mother Nature is very let down about our disrespect to our planet Earth.

I think there is so much importance put on "today" and not "tomorrow". The ramifications of our actions are not prioritized when seeking new technology, energy, or resources when money or power can be gained.

Get hit by a flake of paint at 30,000 mph, and you're in trouble!

That's what he said about the shuttle!

That is scary Cro,we are aware of it but don't think of it,just like the oceans I suppose we know but rarely give it a thought until a headliner comes along..our poor grandkids we have buggered it up big time for them.
