Around Town.

We've been having some pretty awful on & off weather over the past few days. However, after Sunday lunch our guests took Billy down to the sea, and my son, Kimbo, took this beautiful photo.

I think Billy must have been caught unawares by the waves; he doesn't usually venture in much above his elbows!

Closer to home, these roses are directly opposite our front door, and are beautiful.

Not quite so beautiful is this new tent that has just appeared in Billy's exercise park. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes, it must be miserable camping in the weather we've been having. I wish them well.

Tuesday morning: I'm just back from my early morning walk with Billy, and I see that the above tent is now flattened and flapping about in the wind. No doubt, like visitors to Glastonbury, the owners are wealthy enough to buy a new tent each time they venture out. I'm no camper, but personally I wouldn't just abandon a tent after a few days use!

    1. He looks a bit shocked too, I don't think he was expecting the waves.

  2. I think collies don't like water, mine never did. But it is a splendid photo of waves and Billy. Suddenly struck me with that tent in the grave yard. Can you still ask for 'sanctuary' from the church?

    1. Billy only usually likes water up to his stomach. Like me, he paddles.
I'm sure that one can still ask for sanctuary inside a church, although I haven't heard of any recent cases.

    2. If Norwich Cathedral is anything to go by you aren't going to get much help. They actively keep the homeless out. It is wicked in my opinion. They are more concerned with fancy entrances and facilities and welcoming guides all for the tourists.

    3. I once visited Palma Cathedral in Majorca, and the priests were beating the beggars who were sitting on the outdoor steps. I was shocked; even more so to see all the mounds of jewels on show inside.

  3. Good to see Billy in the sea. I have just had a rose out like that one in my garden. Still very mild here and set to get to high teens 17C tomorrow.

    1. I think we're all going to have a few very welcome days of sunshine and higher temps, starting Thursday.

  4. The roses are beautiful. Ours are struggling, time to give them their winter pruning.
Tents like that are not expensive..neither are they very protective

    1. I pruned the bush quite hard about a month ago, and it's responded perfectly.

  5. With our current gale over here that tent would have been long gone, probably end up in northern Scotland.

  6. Possibly a homeless person was in that tent and was offered somewhere more suitable?

    1. Yes, I'm sure it was a 'homeless' person in there, but with the awful weather we've had I expect he's now gone home. They tend not to like winter.

  8. It always seems so hypocritical when young people who claim to care about the environment and climate change abandon their tents at the end of festivals.

    1. Not only their tents, but tons of rubbish. Then they buy everything again for the next festival.

    1. It's a beautiful rose, and the flowers are all slightly different, some are mostly pink and others mostly yellow.

  10. Billy in the sea is beautiful. Some people use something a bit and get rid of it. It's an attitude I don't understand.

  13. Billy looks almost swamped by those waves. maybe the tent isn't abandoned, maybe the tenant is just shopping for dinner?

    1. By yesterday evening the tent was in tatters, with bits flying all over the place. I think the occupants have now gone home to Mummy.
