I don't think I would want this in my own garden, but what an amazing piece of work.
I have no idea who it's by, or even where it is. But I do have admiration for its maker. Quite extraordinary.
A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
A truck with Gothic windows. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work.
DeleteIt looks like it is standing in exactly the same place as Sarah Lucas's truck a few years ago. Is it at Frieze in Regents Park?
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if it should have been at Frieze, but I can see no mention of it. What I did find, however, is that the entry price is a staggering £46.
DeleteIt was £21 last time I went a few years ago. It is the place to see all the best comtemporary art, all the dealers and commercial galleries with a stand. Visitors without cheque books are not encouraged.
DeleteI could be very tempted; there's some wonderful work.
DeleteBrilliant. I can find similar work by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye.
ReplyDeleteThank you; you got him!
DeleteI only remember the polemic concerning the tatooed pigs .I found it horrible, the poor animals.
ReplyDeleteNot to be recommended. Humans ask for them; Pigs don't.
DeleteExtraordinary indeed.
ReplyDeleteIs it for sale do you think? Would just fit in the back garden.
You'd have to move the Anthony Caro to somewhere else!
DeleteWow, that's a lot pf cogs and rivets.
ReplyDeleteI bet he enlisted some help.
DeleteI rather think that the lorry is by Belgian neo-conceptual artist Wim Delvoye:
ReplyDelete"Belgian artist Wim Delvoye takes laser-cutting to a new scale with his sculptures of construction vehicles highly detailed in ornate patterns referencing the industrial revolution, gothic cathedrals, Victorian architecture and to a degree steampunk culture."
Yes we know, you're a bit late.
DeleteThat is amazing! But no, not for my yard, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate the work, but not for my home either.
DeleteImpressive work. The structure size and steel detail is unlike anything I've ever seen. If he comes to NYC it would be great to see more of WD's work.
ReplyDeleteYP (above) says it's made with laser cutting, which makes sense.
DeleteI find it inteeresting but as you say - not in my backyard.
ReplyDeleteClever, but not overly attractive.
DeleteWow! I've seen one of his works before - the Cement Truck at the now-defunct MONA in Tasmania. It's amazingly beautiful for all its rustiness and unexpectedness. Your tip truck must be galvanised steel?
