It was only a short while ago that I posted a similar picture of Haddock's, but with the wonderful combination of sun and rain everything is now growing at a terrific rate; just look at those red cabbages.
We have strawberries, rhubarb, some salads, spring onions, and calabrese.
Everything (except for our winter greens) is planted out, and we now just need to wait until it's all big enough to eat.
It's looking good.
So you guessed right to plant early; no frost. Haddock's is looking bery proud. Well done Cro.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Crossing one's fingers really does work.
DeleteIt is so beautiful. must be tasty too.
ReplyDeleteIt's very rewarding once one begins to eat one's own first vegs of the year.
DeleteHi Cro, you did well to plant with all that sun and rain combination. Those pictures are my type of images - being a vegetarian!
ReplyDeleteWe are carnivores who lean towards veggie-ism. Vegetables are a major part of our diet.
DeleteThe knife is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJust for you Rachel!
DeleteStop the torture, Cro. They don't say "GREEN with envy" for nothing. And I am not even given to envy.
ReplyDeleteCyan greetings,
U
Occasionally I am envious of myself; this is one of those occasions.
DeleteYou and Mother Nature did very well with the garden.
ReplyDeleteMother Nature was very kind with her weather.
DeleteThat calabrese looks good. When did you plant it? We are only cropping lettuce and strawberries at the moment, I think it will be a while before our spring onions will be ready.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember exactly when I planted it, but it was well before the Ice Saints. It grows very quickly.
DeleteWell I notice that I have a few tiny green tips growing in the bed and some of the herb seeds are germinating. I think it must be warmer than single figures at Haddock's.
ReplyDeleteIt has been round about the 20 C mark, but it's also been under 10 C. It's 19 C at the moment, and we've had plenty of recent rain.
DeleteLooks good.
ReplyDeleteI shall have to find some Red Cabbage recipes, I think we're about to be swamped.
DeleteIt looks so fertile Cro. Envy you the strawberries.
ReplyDeleteNot a lot of them but we eat a few each every day.
DeleteYou're pretty good at the fruit and veg growing Cro ..... we'll just call you Monty from now on .... or maybe Monty should call himself Cro !! XXXX
ReplyDeleteHa ha. The slot on TV would be nice!
DeleteYour garden is so beautiful! You're going to be eating some good stuff very soon!
ReplyDeleteJust around the corner. It's all growing so fast.
DeleteLooking good. We are doing a garden for the first time in many years. My wife just retired, and now with both of us home we have more time for things like that. Ours is not on the same level as yours, but next year we may try to do more if this goes well.
ReplyDeleteThe only tricky bit is keeping the weeds down after the stage above. It all looks very nice now, but the weeds grow at the same speed!
DeleteYou can just FEEL the sun
ReplyDeleteSunny, but not always warm!
DeleteYour crops may be a little earlier than mine but at this time of year everything is just so lush and growing at a rate of knots/nots/knotts? Growing veg is such a pleasurable pursuit isn't it - even after growing them all these years it always gives me a thrill.
ReplyDeleteMe too, especially at this stage when everything is blooming.... later it's all weeding!
Deletelooking fantastic Cro! You are so much further ahead than we are, our soil here on The Poor Farm is awful and will take years to get in good shape. I will be back for motivating photos. Keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteI would have thought that as it hasn't been cultivated for a while, that your soil would be excellent. Good luck.
