On Saturday morning, I was waiting at a traffic light, when a man pulled-up behind me wearing the EXACT type of large pale-grey hoodie as this woman is wearing below.
Originally I simply thought he looked a bit of a plonker, as it was a lovely warm sunny day. But then I noticed him looking sideways both right and left.
As his head moved, I noticed that the hoodie DIDN'T. Meaning that he couldn't see anything out to either side.
Personally I wouldn't be seen dead wearing a hoodie, let alone wearing one on a warm day in a car. It's no different to a horse wearing blinkers.
So, here is an open letter to Lord Hermer KL, the UK's Attorney General....
"Dear Sir; I would be grateful if you would recommend an immediate ban on the wearing of 'hoodies' by all bike, car, and lorry drivers. It is a danger to other road-users, and other than looking ridiculous, it is also totally unnecessary. May I also recommend an 'on-the-spot-fine' of £500 (or more). Thank you; Cro".

Ban pedestrians wearing them too!
ReplyDeleteQuite right!
DeleteI never did see the appeal of the ubiquitous hoodie. Most inelegant, although I suppose they do keep the ears warm.
ReplyDeleteThey might be warming in extreme cold weather, but why do they wear them ALL THE TIME?.
DeleteDear Monsieur Magnon,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your letter of March 23rd 2026. Hoodies will soon be banned nationwide. All monasteries and nunneries have been informed. The hooding of birds of prey by falconers will be made illegal as will the terms neighbourhood, brotherhood and knighthood. Also nobody will be able to refer to Robin Hood and his band of merry hoodies without suffering dire consequences.
Yours finally,
Lord Hermer KL
Your Lordship. Good on-yer!
DeleteI don't like hoodie either. Unfortunately I do own 2. I wear them when it's really cold, never put the hood up. I fold it round my neck and it keeps me warm.
ReplyDeleteIt would be very awkward wearing one with the hood up when driving.
I must confess to owning two hoodies, which are only ever worn on the dog walk on a really cold day. Like today, when the wind is blowing straight from Siberia - it keeps my head and neck warm! Otherwise I treat all hoodie wearers (especially suspicious looking young lads) with a very wide berth! Is it the hoodie that makes them look suspicious or are they really up to no good?
