98.5 kgs

Right; my weight-loss programme starts today.

I have weighed myself this morning (98.5 kgs. 15.6 stones) and, as from today, will drink no alcohol, and eat more healthily, until I feel lighter and healthier. If I have the will-power, I reckon a couple of months will do the job.

It may sound as if I am wildly obese, but as a 6 ft 1 inch ex-Rugby player, I appear to most people as simply normal; not at all 'fat'. I keep telling myself that I have those infamous 'heavy bones'.

I'm starting on the 1st of a new month simply because that's how my brain works. I just hope it continues to work the way I want it to!

I shall, of course, report back; as long as I haven't totally evaporated.

  1. Good luck. I have the opposite problem (6'3" and 74.5 kilos).
I'll take a stone of yours.
I do smoke roll-ups so I guess that helps. You can get a jab for being fat but you are probably as well not bothering with either fags or the jabs.

    1. I started my regime with a small bowl of Muesli this morning. No fried eggs, bacon, and haggis, for a while.

  2. Good luck with the diet. I also think that your "bones are probably heavy," from what I've seen in pictures over the years, you don't look like someone who needs a lot of weight loss.

    1. I'm hoping my diet will help with my mobility. I feel that my legs are supporting too much weight, and being a bit lighter will only improve matters..

  3. Cro, You certainly have indulged with your rich breakfast regime. I've avoided morning fry ups all my life. In fact you just encouraged me to weigh myself. And at 5'11 the scales said 11 and a half Stones.
But for sure I think it will help your legs and mobility if you can stick to your new regime. But it won't be easy. Temptation is all around.

    1. Yes, I've definitely been overdoing things. It's that Christmas, and Post-Christmas period that tops-up the calories. I haven't been 11 stone since I was about 16!!!

  4. I quite understand, always start something new on the first of the month, or a Monday. Good luck, I'll be watching progress as I'm on a similar journey, to stave off pre-diabetes.

    1. I am type 2 diabetic (borderline), and have often considered the 600 Calorie diet. Sadly it seemed a step too far!

  5. A good attitude to have Cro, stick with it. No need for any drastic measures. Just be careful how much, and what you put into your mouth.

    1. I have reasonably good will-power, so I am optimistic.

  6. An enforced (gallbladder failure) fat free diet helped me to drop 2 stones so your new regime should help with your weight reduction. Good luck.

    1. 'Pain' is my incentive. If I can reduce it, even by a bit, I shall be very happy.

  7. When did you last measure your height? You might be surprised to have lost an inch or so

    1. I think you're right. I may have dropped an inch, down to just 6 ft.

  8. Ditch the statins! Did your leg trouble not start around starting them.

    1. I do take Lipitor, which I think are Statins. I shall have a look at the 'side effects'. Thanks!

  9. The older you get the thinner the better. Better for back, knees, legs. Easier said than done. I've lost an enormous number of kilos in the past 5 years and am now stuck. I need to lose another 10 for back and knees. I'm feeling better but know I could be even better.
Everyone has to find their own regime. Just keep to it. That's the secret.
I used to be a carnivore. Now I'm enjoying fruit, vege and like JC, very low fat.

  11. I am six feet tall and still carrying too much weight but I have lost 16 pounds in the last three months with the aid of Mounjaro. If I weighed 15.6 stones I would be delighted. Good luck to you on your downward journey Crozier!
