This song from 1986 features Jimmy Somerville and guest singer Sarah Jane Morris.
The Communards were very much a major part of 'The Sound of the 80's', and this particular song is a classic of its era. Jimmy's falsetto voice was unmistakable.
A slightly strange video; but they all were in the 80's.
You may not have heard this for a while; so, enjoy!
Very 80s!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun bouncy period for music; still great for clubs and parties.
DeleteWell that is a lively way to wake up on a Thursday morning! Now back to peace and quiet - my favourite song.
ReplyDeleteHe's an old man these days; like me.
DeleteI'd never heard this version. Much more familiar with Thelma Houston's which went number one in the charts over here and played repeatedly in night clubs way back in 1977. But I always thought the Freddy Pendergrass cover of the song in 1975 the best one. Sorry, that was a bit music nerdy of me.
ReplyDeleteActually this version is my favourite. I think it suits his falsetto voice.
DeleteOddly enough, I have no recollection of this version. Did it hit the top 10?
ReplyDeleteI think it was their biggest hit. I'm sure it went to No 1.
DeleteI used to exercise to the Diana Ross version of that song way back when.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the way Jimmy is jigging-about, it looks like perfect exercise music.
DeleteI'm wondering what happened to my comment, it appeared after writing, but now it's not there. I did enjoy the video.
DeleteJean.
