Welby, has recently resigned over the John Smyth scandal, concerning physical and sexual abuse of young boys.
Welby has always been a busy-body Woke left-wing vicar. Always poking his nose into political matters that were none of his business. Protecting evil-doers was the least of his faults.
He would have been better off designing himself more and more outrageous and expensive pantomime costumes, silly hats, and jewel encrusted sticks.
These people strut about pontificating. Telling us all how we should behave ("do as I say, not as I do"), and pretending that there are gods and devils up in the sky. They are an absolute disgrace; yet somehow they continue to be respected.
However, it has to be said that the C of E is nowhere near as evil as the Catholics. Rome perfected the manufacture of torture implements, ran institutions (and still do) that ruined the lives of countless women and children, and even instructed French nuns to hand over Jewish children to the Nazis during WW2. I could go on!
It amazes me that in the 21st C we still allow such people to be in positions of authority. In the UK, bishops even sit in The House of Lords, deciding on state legislation.
Don't hold your breath. It looks as if even more bishops could be resigning. More reasons why the church should be disestablished.
It's not just the church.
ReplyDelete"Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
This is born out in all institutions from the Royals to teachers via the politicians and police in between.
I find it worst with the clergy, as their 'power' is based on nonsense.

ReplyDeleteUs Labors are now the most degenerate party ever.
The lyrics to the above video are truly awful.
What the hell was that! Very odd.
DeleteLabour posted it on TikTok yesterday but have taken it down. The lyrics to the rap song backing the AI are awful......One verse refers to kicking girls in the pussy and it gets worse.
DeleteHow bizarre. I'd imagined it was a scam.
DeleteI find it hard to think that the average 'intelligent' person actually believes in all this stuff!
ReplyDeleteThey don't, they simply enjoy being members of a club. I knew a lot of Theological Students when I was at school, and not one of them believed in gods and devils. To them it was a job, that usually came with a nice Georgian Vicarage.
DeleteHe does have an impressive hat though.
ReplyDeleteThe "stick" that Welby is holding is named after you! It's a "crozier" or as bishops call it - a "Cro". A Cro is useful for "hooking" selected members of the congregation. This is why bishops are sometimes referred to as "hookers".
ReplyDeleteI just knew I was named after something 'mystical', and I always wondered where the word 'Hookers' came from.
DeleteAs you said “don’t hold your breath”.
ReplyDeleteI am an atheist and a humanist. I don’t have a problem with people belonging to a religion as long as they don’t expect me to have anything to do with it and it does not form part of government.
To look on the positive, in the UK we love in a country where someone is openly atheist can be the PM. Not so in the US, even Trump has to pretend to believe in God.
I agree that the clergy’s power is based on a nonsense. I also think the royal family’s ‘power’ is based on a nonsense.
Live not love!
DeleteI don't agree with you about The Royal Family. They are simply a 'family' like yours or mine, unfortunately for them, theirs comes with huge responsibilities which I don't envy them. They also have to deal with a lot of hatred.
DeleteHuge responsibilities or opening supermarkets and asking if people “have come far”. I agree it is not a “job” that I would want but, in my opinion, the Uk royal family is an anachronism…having to bow or courtesy to someone is let’s face it ridiculous. And don’t forget the monarch is “anointed” - yet more nonsense.
DeleteThings are changing. You'll find that Charles and William see things very differently.
DeleteWilliam might, not so sure about Charles. I think having your valet squeeze out one inch of toothpaste from a silver dispenser is an anachronism
DeleteDon't believe everything you read in the press.
DeleteAnd don’t discount what you read because it doesn’t fit your narrative that the royal family are “simply a family”
DeleteMy attitude is: Every nut job has followers. We just hope they do not take over the world.
ReplyDeleteThey won't. People are becoming more 'educated'.
DeletePeople here in the U.S. don't seem to be becoming more 'educated '. Surely if we were, a better Republican candidate would have been found to run for President.
DeleteBetter candidates ALL ROUND. Have you no-one under retirement age?
DeleteCro, I do believe that power corrupts... whether in politics or religions... or anywhere.
ReplyDeleteAnd although I'm not a religious person, I do believe in God - and Jesus' life, I don't believe that He ever wanted us to 'worship' him .. just follow his example, love one another and try to keep what was/is called the 10 commandments - which IMO, are just general rules for living. Religious leaders that make their own rules/commandments just complicate matters.
And yes, there are a lot of crazies out there - what's scary is how some people follow them.
Rian, I respect your view point. I have a few 'believers' amongst my friends, and we all respect our differing opinions. I think that the C of E should become a philosophy rather than a religion. Lets get rid of all the silliness, and adopt a way of life that we all can respect.
