I love that first photo. Can't remember seeing it. I presume the second is from Mum and Dad's wedding. Presumably they were still talking then. Nearly 34 years since he died. Would you send me the first one please. Tried to copy it but it wouldn't work.
Reading the comments I see they didn't stay agreeable - this is always so sad to me. Life is far too short for arguments. The farmer's father and his brother didn't speak for the last forty years of their lives although they lived in the same village.
Such a thoughtful pair
ReplyDeleteBrothers; but not always best friends!
DeleteYou don't choose your family....

ReplyDeleteI've sent it by Email, let me know if it's 'copyable'.
DeleteThanks got it and copies it.
DeleteThere is something so innocent and beautiful in old photos.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is definitely of a different age.
DeleteThe sailor suit is sweet.
ReplyDeleteBoo Boo had one too; they are timeless.
DeleteGreat family archive. I wonder if one of those clever 'ageing' of faces programs would produce the same faces.
ReplyDeleteMy own face doesn't need 'ageing', it's doing a good enough job by itself.
DeleteNice. So what happened with the good looks gene not being passed down?
ReplyDeleteThey got lost en route!
DeleteThe older brother looks like he is holding something back in the wedding photo.
ReplyDeleteA Ceylonese machete probably.

ReplyDeleteThey weren't at each others' throats, but didn't see eye to eye. My father was quite hard-working, and his brother more of a dandy.
DeleteThey look like they dressed for dinner.
ReplyDeleteJacob Rees-Mogg dresses like the older bro in the top photo even today.
DeleteI imagine that was his school uniform; my father later wore much the same.
DeleteIt is identical to Lord Snooty's (Beano) school uniform.
DeleteThey both attended the Snooty Academy for young Gentlemen.
