I presume that all girls attending UK music festivals, in recent times, have been given a list of clothes to wear; either by their peers or by the festival organisers.
The essentials are Hunter gumboots, very short shorts, long strapped handbag, rucksack filled with more short shorts, and a silly hat.
English summer music festivals are not known for dry sunny weather, in fact they are mostly known for mud, mud, and more mud. But still they wear the festival-goers uniform.
As a 'style' I rather like it.
I was in my local Chazza this week and there was a Mum and Son shopping for disposable clothes and wellies.........stuff he could just leave there.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what he wore coming home, I hope he didn't dispose of it all.
Yes, it's a strange and wonderful time when kids get old enough to insist upon dressing themselves --then years later they ask how we let them out of the house like that.
ReplyDeleteHubby & I went into Reading on Friday & watched the swamp bunnies, (festival goers)
ReplyDeleteDid they all look like the above (before mud)?
DeleteAh to be young again.
ReplyDeleteThere is always a need for gumboots at the Byron Bay Bluesfest at Eastertime here in AUS too.
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to warn my son (who lives there). I think he went last year!
DeleteThey do look cute don't they?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the same with every generation Cro ? I used to wear mini skirts or hot pants and high boots even when it was freezing and, then midi and maxi coats with mini skirts underneath. Oh and the worst thing of all was, even in temperatures of 100 degrees, as a Mod, I would wear my navy blue Bri-nylon mac and hush puppies !!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I was 20 again, I would be wearing that festival uniform too !! XXXX
I still look exactly like those girls.. From the calves down.
ReplyDeleteI remember sweating it out in my duffle coat in the early sixties and freezing in hot pants in the seventies. It will always be thus

While on campus yesterday getting my old self oriented I saw exactly the same uniform here in the US minus the gumboots. Instead they all wore the miniscule flip flops. Two pieces of rubber vaguely attached to a sole. I think on first day of class (tomorrow) I'll wear my chore Wellies (pig crap removed) and dazzle them all with my European style!
ReplyDeleteOf course they do. Don't we all wear uniforms after a fashion? Wish I could still wear shorts like that - but I think it would cause too much of a sensation up here.
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful when young girls are so carefree, almost anything goes in their fashion world.
