This belonged to a neighbour, and I just love it. In French peasant culture, one uses everything and throws away nothing.
It's quite common to see Geraniums (the favourite flower of the French 'paysanne') planted in baked bean tins, old yoghurt pots, or even old shoes.
I think these look every bit as good as if they were in a beautiful terracotta pot; and it doesn't crack in the frost....
I had a wonderfully rust old wheel barrow just like this. WT thought he'd surprise me and paint it. I was surprised, alright.

ReplyDeleteOh wow - that looks just like our house. My Nearest & Dearest has a great collection of machinery in hedgerow condition. We never throw anything away here either. Love the geraniums.

Love the idea of using something rustic like that (ha-literally!) as a planter. I need to get some geraniums here soon. My mom used to keep them in her basement during the winter and would drag them out every spring. I need to be more frugal like that.
