Diet.

I won't show you the 'before' photo, but I've been on a no-wine-diet since April 22nd. I started at 15 stone 9 lbs, and I now weigh 15 stone 2 lbs. i.e. a loss of 7 lbs  without the aid of pills or potions.

Not a great weight-loss you might say, but I do feel a bit better, and have absolutely no desire to grab a bottle of rouge.

I SHALL, of course, be drinking wine through the Summer months, but not in the quantities that I previously did. Perhaps one glass with my evening meal, and no more.

Lady M tells me I'm looking less 'bloated', and I think she's right. Looking at this recent photo (above), I think I can see some 'improvement', although in my case almost anything would have been an improvement.

My aim was to be under 15 stone before the swimming-season. I think I'm still roughly on track.

When I first dip my toe into the pool, I shall weigh 14 stone 13.9 pounds MAXIMUM.

I shall try to stay amongst the 14 stones. I am about 6 ft tall.

  1. It might help to cut the sugar off your strawberries.

    1. Some things are beyond dieting. A little sugar is good for you from time to time.

  2. I found recently that a bout of norovirus can help with rapid weight loss. I wouldn't recommend it though.

    1. I found the same with Covid. I'd rather keep the weight on!

  3. Well done. 7lb in roughly a month is good going and we shouldn't be too precipitous about weight loss as we age, it's too hard on the immune system.

    1. I know I was a little overweight. I like to keep below 15 stone (95 kgs); I feel happier.

  4. When you weigh yourself, Cro, do so AFTER you have emptied your bowels. No joke. It's amazing how much shit weighs.

Hot tip of the day: Rather than some arbitrary how much someone of such and such a height should weigh just look into a full length mirror (undressed). It'll tell you all there is to know.

    And cut yourself some slack.

    1. Thank you for your 'bowel advice'. I shall take my keys out of my pockets as well.
Yes, I think the mirror test is probably the best, but also the most depressing.

  5. May I suggest zumba classes to get yourself in shape. You will need a red, white and blue elasticated headband and a pair of skimpy silk shorts (pink). Just go with the flow of the music and follow the class leader's example. Try Zumba With Mon at the Brighthelm Centre -
"You always leave Monica's classes feeling empowered and motivated."

    1. Actually they do Zumba in the Primary school, right behind our house, on Saturday mornings. I've never been tempted; the leotards chafe, and the pink headbands would give me a headache.

  6. Cro - you'll be able to indulge a little more once you start swimming regularly.

    1. I do hope so. Each length will burn off the calories from one glass of red!

  7. If you can happily cut down on the wine and lose weight then it's a good way to do it. I only drink now when I'm in good company and there's good wine.
It's easier in summer to lose weight. You're doing well

    1. I'm quite happy with how it's gone so far. A few more pounds and I'll be dancing in the street.

Once in France, swimming, mushrooming and walking with Billy will be lovely too.
