Mother nature

This must be the most beautiful, and uplifting, time of year.

Forget January 1st, this is when the year really starts, with fresh leaves appearing on the trees, and birds singing their little hearts out.

As I walk around, I can feel my lungs being anointed by the healing elixir of fresh air, and I feel rejuvenated.

Of course, I do enjoy the warmth of Summer, the sadness of Autumn, and the crisp morning air of Winter, but what stirs the blood the most is now; Spring.

With Billy in Tow, for our early morning walks, I feel really glad to be alive, and I'm sure Billy does too.

I'm not a tree-hugger, like our current King, but I do love trees and treat them with respect. These old Elms in the churchyard are magnificent. I don't know how they managed to avoid the Dutch Elm Disease that killed so many throughout the country, but they are thriving.

What wonderful weather we're having. It's perfect.

  1. It is the most vibrant time of the year. Lots of colour. So much growth. Our grape vine has sprouting and it almost needs pruning. Lots of green leaves for stuffed vine leaves.
Keep on enjoying these warm bright days with Billy

    1. I gave our single vine a really good pruning this year, and it too is looking good. More reliable for the leaves than any grapes.

  2. I couldn't agree more. I love sping especially when it's as kind as this one. Our Garden and Allotment are bursting with promise!

    1. Lucky you. I wish I still had Haddock's (my old veg garden). However, I aim to plant more Peach trees this summer, and grow a few salads and some Bok Choi. I'm hoping our 3 month stay in France will be long enough for them to grow.

  3. Stepping outside the back door first thing in the morning and filling my lungs with fresh air is invigorating. The raised beds are full of greenery and flowers. The birds are dancing about on the lawn. It's a wonderful time of the year. We are so lucky.

    1. Lovely isn't it. Our big glazed back doors are wide open. the windows are open, and we've actually been sitting outdoors in the early evenings.

  4. This Soring has been glorious so far. A real joy to be out and about.
We have seven mature Elms in our garden, all now sadly succumbed to the dreaded Dutch Elm Disease. They now stand as bare, stark reminders of their past magnificence.

    1. I think our ones have been 'treated', and continue to be so. I don't know what they do, but it seems to be working.

  5. Sounds like you have been smoking reefers Crozier! However, I agree with you - these past few days have been glorious with medicinal benefits after the greyness we endured in the first two months of this year.

    1. It hasn't rained here for weeks, and everything is very dry. 'Reefers' are banned for safety (fire hazard) reasons.

    1. We have 'sound' on our French security cameras, and the birds over there are singing even louder than they are here. Lovely.

    1. There is cavorting, sun bathing, laughter, picnics, and lots of people wearing shorts. It almost feels like summer, although still a bit nippy in the mornings.
