I'm not a drug user, and never have been. As an Art Student, in the late 60's, I did once smoke some Hashish, but it sent me to sleep, so I didn't bother again.
On my early dog-walk yesterday morning, I noticed a small, suspicious looking, plastic bag on the ground in the Twitten behind my garage; an area often used by local crack-heads. It was a small plastic Ziploc packet that contained a number of even smaller packs. It looked very suspicious, so I picked it up (not wanting any small children to find it), and took it home.
Above, is what it contained. About a dozen very small packets containing white powder.
I have no idea what it is, and have no desire to find out. I presume it is either Fentanyl or Cocaine or something similar.
So, what does one do with such a find? I don't know if the Police will be interested, and I don't want to dispose of it in it's present condition. Do I flush it down the loo? Do I incinerate it? Do I bury it in the garden?
Some dealer must be as 'Sick as a Parrot' this morning, and no doubt he'll be seen scouring the area, over the next few days!
Now I have to decide what I'll do with it.
(Some time later). I contacted the Police, and in no time a couple of very attractive and friendly young female PC's knocked at the door, and the offending stupefiants were taken into custody. They seemed very grateful.
Do not be surprised if my name appears in King Charles's Birthday Honours List, for services to the community above and beyond the call of duty. Cro Magnon OBE.
Never a dull moment !!!

Give it a few days and chase the police up enquiring whether they have identified the stuff. I wouldn't trust the police not to sell it.
ReplyDeleteHa ha. I think I shall leave them alone. I want nothing more to do with it. I've done my bit!
DeleteIt was the best thing to do. The police know how to get rid of it and who knows, maybe find the culprit. Fingerprints perhaps .
ReplyDeleteJust be careful. It's a jungle out there
We see drug dealing and consuming almost on a daily basis. No-one seems to care.
DeleteNot something that many of us would want to come across on our morning walk.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked, but not really surprised. Drugs are so commonplace these days, but one doesn't expect to find them on the ground. Right behind a Primary School too!
DeleteI am reluctant to contact the police these days, because I want an easy life. But in this instance I think it was the right thing to do. Dropped litter and fly tipping should be investigated.
ReplyDeleteWhen I find lost property (which I do quite often), I deal with it myself. On this occasion, it wasn't too easy to find the right place to contact them. However, when I did they were very quick to respond.
DeleteDid they say what they thought it was? Not that it really matters, but I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteThey thought it looked like Cocaine. They were going to test it, but I don't know why!
DeleteIt does look very suspicious, doesn't it. I'm surprised the police had the time to visit you, rather than ask you to drop it in to them. Must be a slow day.
ReplyDeleteThey did ask me to deliver it, but I said 'No'. They then came to the house very quickly. Excellent service!
DeleteGood for you Cro. Too many people would have just walked past and not wanted to get involved.
ReplyDeleteI think most people would have thought that it was just another piece of litter. I have sharp eyes!!!
DeletePossibly, but a lot of people don’t want to get involved and just want an easy life. So good for you.
DeleteYou may have saved a life,
ReplyDeleteMore likely to have saved people from over-enjoying-themselves. If, indeed, it's that that they do?
DeleteWhat was a drug dealer or buyer doing behind your property? That is concerning. Someone lost their stash. Given the number of packets, they'll be seeking/searching to retrieve the stuff.
ReplyDeleteDid the police offer to investigate and monitor the area? With all the homeowner cameras, they might find some evidence.
Whoever lost it must be very annoyed, I imagine there was a lot of money's worth there! I don't think the Police are all that interested; they don't like the druggies being a nuisance, but otherwise they leave them alone.
DeleteCro, I think you did the right thing... and I hope that's the end of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it is, and I don't suppose I'll ever find another lot.
DeleteCocaine I suspect
ReplyDeleteI suspect the same.
