Have you tried asking questions on Chat GPT?
Personally, I haven't. But my son, Kimbo, uses it occasionally. Just recently Lady M found an old George VI 1947 halfpenny coin in the park, and of course Kimbo had to ask all about it.
He sent a photo, and asked Chat GPT if it was worth 'a fortune'; the response was really amazing.
Not only does the reply sound like a real person, but it is filled with so much information that you almost feel lectured-to. It even goes into aspects that weren't asked-about. The answer was so comprehensive, that it was hard to imagine that this wasn't a real (well-informed), live person.
I find it all rather creepy, and almost dangerous. I hear that the current state-of-the-art Chat GPT is only just scraping the surface, and that very soon such AI sites will be more intelligent than most humans; which they probably already are!
If you haven't yet used the site, I suggest you have a go. You will be amazed.
p.s. The battered halfpenny was worth a farthing (at best)!
I use GPT chat quite a bit, it provides a lot of knowledge and answers on every topic, it doesn't let up, it always offers something more, you have to know when to stop it and of course sometimes slightly doubt the answers it gives.

DeleteI have just been looking at a bunch of old coins that are in my possession but I had not thought about using Chat GPT to determine their value. Thanks for the brainwave Uncle Roger.

DeleteMy daughter uses it all the time. Recently she booked a fortnight's holiday in Japan using it - it did a detailed itinerary of everything she wanted to do there, along with the flight and hotel bookings, visit to Mount Fuji, with all the timings matching up, etc etc. She's just got back after having a wonderful time!

DeleteIt sounds very useful, but right now I can't think of a single thing I'd like to ask it! I'm sure something will come to mind eventually.

DeleteI remember when we first got a telephone. It had that wonderful rotary dial you stuck your finger in. I can still hear that lovely sound in my soul. Some folks had what was called a Party Line where more than one household shared. If you were very quiet and sneaky, you could listen in on other people's calls! Now that's what I call information! As for AI, I'm in a love/hate relationship with it at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with ALL new inventions, is that they have both good and bad uses. Whilst there are people only looking for the good uses, there will always be others looking for ways to use them for crime.
DeleteI also find Chat GPT very useful. Ask a question and it answers comprehensively. It even asks if you have a follow-up question.

It really is amazing. It's difficult to believe that it's not a real person out there. The voice speaks better than most people. It's good to hear CORRECT English for a change.
DeleteCro, I don't use the Chat GPT, but I do use Google's AI and it's great. Yes, there are dangers with AI (like anything else), but it's great for research and it explains things fairly well. I've asked it all kinds of questions - mostly medical, some philosophical or religious and it will even 'dumb it down' if you ask it to. It really is amazing...
