Summer visitors.

This summer's social calendar is slowly filling, but, sadly, it'll be lacking two small boys.

It now looks as if my youngest, Wills, will be heading for Europe alone.

He will come here of course, he has builders to organise; but it'll be a short visit. He needs to visit Zurich to look at property, so his time will be limited.

I was looking forward to having little Boo Boo and his new brother Micha here to play with, but it looks like I'll have to wait a while.

Occasionally life's a bugger, but I suppose one has to accept that other people's schedules cannot always be organised simply to suit our convenience.

Meanwhile I chat to Boo Boo by Skype. Roll on 2019.

  2. Boo Boo has grown a lot! What a beautiful child. I'm sorry they will not be there this year but, Zurich is close and the good thing is they will visit you more often when they live there.
    Greetings Maria x

    1. One can only hope, although with their home in Oz they will still move around a lot.

  3. I have begun our list of family visitors. Younger generation so far.
Pity about your boys. Will Lady M be going south?

  5. That is so disappointing for you. Children grow up so quickly. Thank god for Skype eh?

    1. Yes, missing a whole year of 'growth' is huge; still, we have great fun conversing on Skype. He still knows who we are!

  8. The rapidly changing world is what encourages people to leave the fold, as well as giving us the astonishing communication means to talk to them across it. Who remembers the horrible time-delay on the old phone calls?

    1. That still does happen occasionally, but nothing like the 5 second delay of days gone by.

  9. It’s lovely that you have other grandchildren visiting but sad that another year goes by without a visit from Boo Boo and Micha. This is the way of the world now with family living all over the place. It’s our fault for encouraging them to be adventurous 🤭 Thank goodness for Skype. XXXX

  10. What a beautiful little boy. I know how disappointed you must be, but there's always next summer.

  11. I complain with family spread in three directions, from 1 hour to 1.5 hours away. Perhaps I am not so badly off.

  12. Skype/videochat is a blessing when you're far away. Not as good as a visit in person though..you can't hug a computer!

  13. I am sorry to read about your disappointment. As the years go by, our children and grandchildren have more commitments and sometimes it means that we fall in the background. It is life, and even more so in this global society. This year I have noticed changes that I just have to accept. It hurts, but it it is what it is.

    1. It would be nice to return to the days of big houses and everyone living together, but I suppose those days have gone.

  14. I spoke to my grandson, who works in China, the other day. His voice was loud and clear - he could have beenjust down the road. It was wonderful.

    1. It's the way of the world. Families in Oz have relations in France, and families in France have relations in Oz.

  17. We are so lucky. Granddaughter and the tall ones she lives with in Japan, don't visit as much as they would like.
Since I can not travel anymore I do not get to see her/them as much as I would like. We use "Line" all the time so I see her lots and that is so great.

    cheers, parsnip

  18. Perhaps it's time to try to get over that flying-to-Australia phobia and fly here for a visit. It's not that bad you know- only 24 hours out of your life !

    1. I'm not claustrophobic, but sitting in a plane for that amount of time would drive me crazy. I've flown to the USA, and that was long enough. 24 hours is too much.
