The Grand National.

These female racegoers were spotted rolling around on the floor at Ladies Day - one even ended up with a newspaper covering her head

The 'Sport of Kings' seems to have become the 'Sport of Chavs'.

Whether it be Ascot, Cheltenham, or Aintree, they turn up in their droves to drink to excess, show off their tattoos, and generally behave like 'trailer-trash'.

I know that the press will always post photos that show them at their worst, but these days it's there for all to see on a massive scale.

It follows a pattern at every major race course. First they select some totally inappropriate clothing, hats, and shoes, then drink as much as they can before falling over and showing the world their knickers.

I'm not a racegoer, and frankly I'm now even less likely ever to become one.

At last weekend's Boat Race I saw no half naked drunks, nor have I at either Rugby or Cricket matches. What is it about Horse Racing that seems to attract them?

Another Great British occasion has gone down hill. What a shame.

  1. If you think that's bad, you should see the NASCAR races here in the US. Talk about trailer trash!

    1. And I didn't mention that the men were 'brawling'. What a spectacle!

  2. Sadly this sort of loutish behaviour is becoming so prevalent that it hardly bears passing comment.

  3. Brits enjoying themselves with a drink in the Spring sunshine at the Grand National. Stop being a spoil sport...

  4. Lager louts! Here they even kill each other. And here you can blame it on cheap booze, sunshine and a holiday where no one knows you. But at home?

    1. Drunken loutish foreign holidays have now become a British tradition. It all started with 18-30 holidays.

  5. It's the litter and mess they leave behind that upsets me. Actually their dress sense upsets me too.

    1. And they don't seem to mind rolling about in it either!

  6. A few years ago and it was only the Public School louts that indulged in this type of behaviour and from their example it seems everyone else has joined in.

    1. Is that a dig at me? I have never behaved badly (well, not that often), and anyway, that restaurant in Chester needed a good washing.

  7. Where is the dignity of these women? Where is the pride? Where has it gone?

  8. Just an excuse to do during the day what they do on Friday and Saturday nights!
They are definitely not there for the race. The only place to watch it properly is at home on the TV.

    1. If watching it on TV means avoiding these Chavs, then TV it has to be.

  10. I only go to the races to look at the knickers of drunk women. I don't watch the horses.

  12. And we are supposed to feel sorry for these oiks who are so badly off that they can't afford to leave home but can spend hundreds on tatty clothes, booze, football season tickets and travel.

    1. It would be interesting to follow them home, just to see their true circumstances. The way they behave, it doesn't take much imagination to know what one would find!

  13. Kind of agree with Rachel’s (reply) comment, the LCD bit – not sure if The Socialists were directly involved/to blame, but they probably were…
Things have turned on their heads and now kids are in control of their parents... parents can’t correct the little darlings either, as this would be construed as abuse. So run wild they do, with no understanding of right and wrong, no morals and so on and so forth. Sad and quite scary… their kids will be wilder...

    1. So, where's the solution. I keep waiting for a 'fashion' where young people do good deeds, help old ladies across the road, and behave themselves at Race Meetings. I suspect I have a while to wait.

  14. The things I don't understand is the litter, the need to drink to oblivion. Yes, enjoy a glass or two, moderation is the key.

Do entire offices, hospitals close down so people can go to the races? Do these people not work?

    1. I suspect they are mostly unemployed. With the amount of tattoos they have, I can't see many of them actually finding a job.
