It's Official.

I can now confirm that the May is out, so officially we may cast our first clouts.

Personally I began casting clouts a wee while ago, but since the weather has once again become quite cool, my shorts have only made an appearance in the afternoons.

It'll be OK again quite soon; have no fear.

    1. I don't think it applies too often back in the UK. Here it's been lovely.

  5. I was clueless to clout, but I did my research. We have a similar proverb in Italian.
It is very cold here too. My light weight coat is always at hand.

    1. 'Ne'er cast a clout till May is out' (meaning out in flower, not ended, as some people think).

  7. Friend's garden Sunday afternoon: three in shorts, four trousers and one longish skirt (- very unusual for me). It's the start of the end of the cold thank goodness. We have not had any frost and our local vines and fruit trees are doing well.

  8. Our May has been out for a week or two, but I still keep my thermals on, although I have been bold and taken my thermal vest off during the day. As for my legs, ...they remain discretely hidden beneath a long skirt all the time!

  11. I see you have turned into the local weather report. Commiserations.

Let's turn your thoughts to politics which you and I generally don't see eye to eye on. Best quote yesterday (don't quibble - it's just lovely in its simplicity): "Once June comes May will be over".

  12. I had to Google "cast a clout"! :) We are having a miserable grey damp spring with lots of mud and the odd day of sunshine to give us hope! Dandelions aren't even blooming yet.
