International Cricket.

Give some Brit' and Aussie kids a deserted beach, bat, and ball, and a Cricket match is bound to follow.

This particular match took place on Hervey Bay (Queensland Oz), where teams of cousins and dads battled for honours.

I never heard who won.

  1. Strange.... where we lived in Leeds, you could see an end wall of some non-period garages.... in front of this wall, an area of concrete hard standing filling the void between two roads and the wall.... upon the wall were painted....
    A set of three stumps!
An annual cricket match took place between two closely related families....
Not relations of yours were they?

    1. Painted stumps on walls was a great British tradition; now all one finds is indecipherable squiggled graffiti. No wonder the nation's health is declining.

    1. They're all having a wonderful time. One of my grandsons picked up a baby Brown Snake yesterday, only to be told later that it was one of the deadliest on the planet. He's lucky to be alive!

    1. As far as I gather, almost all wildlife will kill you. My daughter lives in an area that has torrential rainfall every so often, and as they live on a slight mount, all creatures make for her garden when it's flooded lower down. Some unpleasant sights there.

    1. With my oldest bowling, even to hit it is worth a six.

    1. I think the cars belong to an official 'Beach Control'.

  7. With only three players in the garden, usually Dad bowling and me fetching we had any hit into next door's garden as 'Six and Out!' The sandy beach was too easy to score runs on.

    1. My oldest (the bowler) had a test for Sussex CCC, and he still plays for his local club. Two of the boys (his sons) also play for the same club as juniors. Cricket is in the blood.

    2. We used to play French cricket at the farm. I was only thinking about it the other day. Great fun with a piece of wood and a tennis ball, lots of laughter but at the same time taken very seriously.

    3. We still play French Cricket. Our 'piece of wood' has been cut to look like a proper bat (by me, of course).
