What a mug!

Lady Magnon has been away in Blighty recently, and as all good wives do, she brought back goodies.

Plenty of dried herbs and spices, pork pies, a few jars of Brinjal Pickle, hot cross buns, some books, Pork scratchings from a friend, and a few other bits and pieces.

Amongst the latter was a new mug. And who else to adorn it, but a grumpy looking Captain Haddock himself.

Thank you m'dear.

    1. Yes, two big squeezy ones; how could I have forgotten.

    2. Didn't know they now do squeezy ones. Friends have recently arrived (by car)with three 500 gr. jars for us, which should last for a while. Squeezy ones are ideal for a suitcase, how thoughtful of Marmite !

  8. I adore the Captain Haddock mug Cro - but oh how I fancy a hot cross bun. Your post today seems to answer my question. We are going on a cruise shortly through the waterways of the Netherlands and Belgium. Our Dutch friends adore cheese (is there a Dutchman who doesn't?)and we are meeting them one day. Can I take cheese on the flight - I wasn't sure about food. We live very close to the Wensleydale Creamery.

    1. Only (I think) if it's in a suitcase that goes in the hold. I'm not sure if they'd allow it on in hand luggage; I may be wrong.

    2. Yes, I think you are OK if it's in a suitcase, but not hand luggage.

  10. I love that with all the wonderful charcuterie in France, you crave a good ol' English pork pie! You are a true countryman!

  11. Nice and white inside. I only drink out of mugs with white insides.

    1. When did we all start drinking from mugs? I'm sure when I was small, or at school, such things were not used.

    2. I drink at breakfast from a cup and only use a mug in the evening.

  12. What a grand mug Lady M has brought you along with the other treats. I always have my morning coffee in an old Spode cup, but after that it's mugs of tea all the way.

It's difficult to find hot cross buns in my neighborhood, but I am determined to find some before Easter. I am too lazy to make my own.

    Best wishes.

    1. Lady M made her own last year, but they don't taste quite the same as the commercial ones. We ate one, and the others are in the freezer.

  15. Cro, The pickles sound so good.
Search Amazon and found Patak's Relish.
It has several good reviews, is this the one you like?
I love Indian food and eggplant.
    Thank you for your help.

    1. It used to be called Brinjal Pickle, but now it's called Aubergine Pickle. It really is perfect with a good curry.

  16. It was the herbs and spices that puzzled me. I would have thought that France (even LeClerc) had everything you could ever wish for. (Apologies for ending with a preposition. I know you're a stickler for these things.)
