Cro's Style Awards: No 2.

I hate to be disrespectful to these good ladies above, but I really do find their outfits quite sexy, which I expect is the exact opposite of what was originally intended.

Above is another example of rigid compliance with the norm. Braces, brown shoes, and pudding basin haircuts. I wonder how many of these guys stand in front of a mirror (if they are allowed such things) and think they look 'cool'? I think they do.

So my second award goes to the Amish community. Well done fellas.

  1. There's something about a uniform - must be the ant DNA in us all.

The Amish huh? Well, on the plus side you don't see them screaming about being the "religion of peace" while simultaneously using more explosives than the U.S. Marine Corp. They just seem to get on with it and ignore the world, mostly. On the other hand, they do provide me with some disrespectful giggles when wondering who drew their "technology line". Electricity bad; high-tech optics (spectacle lenss) produced by process using electricity good eh? Hmm.

I envy their work ethic though!

    1. I suspect it's all some big commercial ruse. 'Amish' has now become an internationally recognised trade mark, ready to launch various simple products onto the world's markets. Watch their space!

    2. Amishland, the theme park where guests get to dress in Amish uniform and work and have haircuts - with valet parking for 30,000 carriages ... Closed on Sundays.

  3. So they have Mini-Me's in the Amish community too!

  4. The amish are sharp businesspeople who use kerosene or gasoline generator supplied electricity to run their enterprises. At a bed and breakfast one morning the oldest daughter came into the kitchen, opened bifold doors and began loading sheets into an automatic washer, next to the dryer. The horrified mother raced over, shut the doors, turned to us and said "No washer. No dryer!" I took that to mean they did not exist; perhaps she meant they would be used when we were gone.

    1. This sounds a little like my Jewish friends who can't resist a bacon sandwich.

  5. Holy smokes, looks like family reunion of my husband's relatives. I hasten to add he and his siblings are fall-aways from the Mennonite side of things. And they're much snappier dressers than Hutterites. Notice no photos of their faces? Verboten.

    1. How very interesting. Do they still have all the kit in the wardrobe?

  6. I like the trousers and braces but not sure I could have my hair like that! An amish life has always looked like my kind of thing except for the religion side of things, being a godless man.
