Boot Sale Season.

I really wanted to buy this old children's fairground motorbike, but at €650 it was way beyond my reach.

We're well into boot sale season here, and there'll be at least one each weekend (within easy reach) for the next few months. Today's was at Frayssinet-le-Gelat; the home of my wonderful baker.

As well as a couple of loaves, the only other thing I bought was this old zinc pinnacle; a bargain at €50 (Lady Magnon wasn't convinced).

  1. I am sure it was a great buy but I just converted it to NZ dollars and it equals a week's shopping.

  2. Lots of interesting stuff but some silly prices. I liked an old lantern but not at 60 euros. I bought a jam pot for 3 euros. (You must have got there early because I didn't see anyone with yoghurty arms!)

    1. I'd been given a good licking by the dogs before we left home.

    2. I've only met 2 or 3 other bloggers in my life. It is good that you guys get to meet each other in person. I kind of envy you.

  3. Well it's quite interesting. What will you do with it... a lamp for the house or garden perhaps? Is it hollow? You must have some plans for it.

    1. Yes, it's hollow. I'll probably just keep it as a 'sculptural object', although it would make a wonderful lamp.

  4. I am thinking that your zinc pinnacle would make a good mount for a weather vane...

    1. It actually does have a hole at the top, which I presumed was for exactly that!

  5. Love it. Vide greniers are so much more interesting than the car boots I've been to in England. Good luck with finding the perfect use for your latest treasure.

    1. I'm starting to collect large 'spectacular' antiques for our barn. There is a huge open space that will require a few nice antique pieces, plus some very large paintings. I'm permanently on the look-out.

    1. As Tom suggested; probably a weather vane.

  8. 'Tis the season here for boot sales as well. Since i've been busily decluttering, i find myself driving past them, unless an item pops out at me, begging me to stop and look.

  9. Don't know about the weather vane; it's not fitted at the bottom for the peak of a roof, or the slope. Not ruling it out; flat roofs are built in the southwest, where it doesn't snow. Interesting, some like it for itself and some want to "know".

  11. We go to those sorts of sales all year round here, and enjoy them immensely. That motorbike looked like it was in pretty decent shape. It must have been tough for you to resist it.

    1. At €650.... very easy to resist; I didn't even bother to make an offer.
