Rough Sketching.

I really enjoy going out with just a pen, brush, and sketch pad, and recording things in my own particular (peculiar) way. I never worry about drawings being 'good', or even necessarily accurate. It's just being there, looking at something, and jotting it down, which is fun.

These three sketches of a nearby town were done over a period of several weeks, I think I drew almost every inch of the place.

Even the little back streets. Nothing special about them; but in this one I remember that I rather liked the old 2CV van.

  2. I love this kind of art. IMHO, sketches are more realistic than the painting.

  3. I love that you can capture so much with so few lines.

  4. I admire the way you’ve captured the essence of the town with such simplicity. I just know that if I attempted to sketch the place I’d try to put in too much detail and my drawings would all end up in the nearest poubelle.

  5. Cro, I absolutely love these, this is the type of art that I really like, does that mean I am a simpledom? or that I just admire the raw reality of things.Honstly if you were selling your drawings on the street corner i would have to have them, when I travelled over Europe and Uk I bought many minatures like these for my daughter as it was her request that this is what she would like, the one I got in Florence was her favourite.I will return to this particular days blog and admire these many times over.Thank you so much for sharing your world with us.By the way I am glad your daughter and family are safe, the floods are now down in our state and in some of our families area but they are all safe, they won't come to where we are at the moment as it is a different river system and will eventually end up down in Adelaide. What a horrifc time for all these poor people.I hope our government now puts all our aid to our own for a while as we need it as much as anyone.Carole

  7. Cro - I love those sketches. We used to own a Morris 1000 van which looked very similar to the 2CV van you've sketched!

  8. Amazing to me how so few lines shows all you need to know! When I was a teen ager I used to carry a sketch pad everywhere with me, but, nothing I drew compared to yours. I think I just liked the idea of it...so romanic

  9. Nice sketches, Cro. Pen and ink used to be my specialty back in college. I've been thinking a lot about it recently. I should venture back.

I enrolled at the Victoria School of Art one year studying drawing, Really taught me how to look at things differently...should have kept it up!
